Mouse DPI means dots per inch. It describes how much cursor movement a mouse can produce relative to physical movement. In practical terms, a higher DPI generally makes the pointer travel farther on the screen when you move the mouse the same physical distance.
For example, if your mouse is configured around 800 DPI, moving it one inch can produce substantially different cursor movement than a mouse configured around 1600 DPI. 1. Measure a physical distance
Use a ruler or measuring tape and choose a comfortable distance such as 4 inches or 10 centimeters. Measure the distance you will physically move your mouse during each test pass.
2. Enter the distance
Enter the physical distance in inches in the test box. If you are using centimeters, convert the measurement to inches before entering it.
3. Start the test
Click Start DPI Test. Then move your mouse smoothly across the testing area. Avoid very short or jerky movements because inconsistent movement can make the estimate less useful.
4. Repeat the movement
Complete the selected number of passes. Multiple passes can reduce the effect of one unusually short or long movement and give you a more representative estimate.
